PhD research
The topic of Naze Candogan Yossef’s PhD research is ‘Assessment of a global seasonal forecasting system for hydrological extremes’. FEWS-World system incorporates the global hydrological model PCR-GLOBWB. The input to the system is seasonal meteorological forecasts and the output is streamflow forecasts which indicate increased risks of excesses or shortages over long lead times. Assessment of the system addresses both skill and value; where skill is defined as the ability to forecast extreme discharge and value is the usefulness for affected populations.
